Mabuhay! Upon arriving in Manila, you will head to Zambales, a province located a few hours northwest of the capital. After a long journey, relax on the beach, marvel at the sunset, and spend the night in a comfortable glamping setup.
Trek across volcanic ash and through a river to meet the local indigenous (Aeta) community. There, you’ll learn about their culture- their food, music & stories- and the reforestation of their ancestral land. You’ll be helping out by planting some seedlings at their tree nursery.
On your third day, seek what else Zambales has to offer. Head to the local market early and find what treats you can have or make for breakfast, then soak up some more sun rays. In the evening, you’ll be heading further north, up the mountains, to Banaue.
Wake up refreshed by the cool mountain air and stretch your legs for the day ahead! Explore the town of Banaue– try local comfort food and mountain coffee, and check out the town trade center. Then, trek to Batad where you’ll be greeted by the impressive vistas of the renowned Banaue Rice Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk on the mountainside, through this cascading ancient man-made amphitheater, for a refreshing waterfall dip to soothe your sore muscles. Then spend the night in a native Ifugao homestay.
After your hike back up to your starting point, just take it easy for a while. Then, continue on your journey to the mystic mountain town of Sagada. Begin the next day at dawn; catch the sun rise above the sea of clouds blanketing over the peaks, slowly revealing the valleys below. Then fill yourself with the town’s famous yogurt and warm up with some coffee. Then venture off for some mystery: tribal coffins, a maze of caves and a myriad of waterfalls.
It’s time to head back to Manila or Clark and fly to Siargao.
Spend your days exploring General Luna. Go around town, have a friendly chat with the locals. Check out the stunning beaches, play in the tide pools, get high on stoke at the famed Cloud 9.
Board a boat and spend the day cruising to other surrounding islands- big and bare. Build up an appetite after swimming, help the locals prepare a feast of fresh grilled seafood, then fall back into the sand with a coconut in hand.
Time to venture even further. Head up north where there’s not a lot of tourists. Find out for yourself what gems this part of the island hides. Let your curiosity and courage reward you.
It’s all about balance. You’ve been wandering so much and now it’s time to take a pause. Be still, surrounded by the island elements, then realign with an evening yoga session.
The island has been so good to you. Help keep the place a paradise for all. Pick up rubbish buried in the sand between your toes, or join a group of local kids comb through an entire beach for a cleanup.
Time to pack your bags. We guarantee you wouldn’t want to yet (or ever), but time to head back to Manila or Cebu and fly home.
